Like the rest of his family, Joe Christmas grew up outdoors - fishing, hunting, playing sports and riding ATVs and snowmobiles in the Adirondack town of Tupper Lake, New York. Joe grew up as his family business also grew – taking numerous trips to Colorado with his father, Dan Christmas, while the company expanded into Colorado and Montana. In more recent years, Joe has worked closely with his father, watching him work and communicate with people, teaching him about respect and how to treat customers and colleagues in the family land business.
At the age of 13, Joe started working summers at the family sawmill, learning the basics of running a chainsaw and other machinery, as well as learning camp construction skills from his father and older brother, Marc. This, in addition to many hunting and scouting trips with his dad, helped Joe gain woods knowledge at an early age. In 2009, Joe attended Outward Bound, an internationally known outdoor education school that teaches wilderness and leadership skills and the next year, he moved to Camden, NY and began working full-time for Christmas & Associates.
Like his father and older brother, Joe has learned the business from the ground up - constructing camps, logging, building roads, and clearing camp lots, including unique projects, such as building a floating camp and outhouse for a national television show! Most recently, Joe began working in land acquisitions and also obtained his real estate license. As a licensed agent, Joe looks forward to learning about land sales and to showing property to customers who share his love of the woods.
In addition to working full-time, Joe consistently helps with family projects as needed – helping his father renovate a lakefront cottage and working with his brother to build his own dream house.
Joe’s favorite moments are spent with his wife and three young daughters and when he isn’t building camps, keeping the company machines running or learning the real estate business, you will find him at home with his family or out scouting the woods for deer with has dad and brothers.
